Howl - Horns Of Steel
Today I discovered a friend of mine is into death metal. It was a nice surprise.
And then I came across this amazing band. Downright dirty sludge. Just what I needed.
What I really need is to go to another metal show. Pensacola is dry as hell. I miss the pounding vibrations of the speakers, the chaos of hundreds of metalheads smelling like PBR crammed into a small venue, and leaving with a few bruises from the pit, but having a hell of a good time. I miss raising hell.

65daysofstatic - Drove Through Ghosts music video
Seed falls from the sky. Lonely robot inspects. Seed rolls away through an endless field of power lines. Robot chases after. Seed falls off a cliff and bursts into the first tree the robot's ever seen. Robot loses his robot mind in the downward spiral of modern technology.
I have no idea what I'm talking about. But I dig it.

Ronnie James Dio, may you rest in peace.
Born to be Wild
I think I was 8 when it happened, when I discovered music of my own choice beyond the cassette tapes my parents bought me. Up until that time, I listened to a lot of children's music and oldies. Not by choice, but simply because that's what my parents would put on for me. I remember owning several Oldie's cassette tapes, the compilations you would find at gas stations and convenience stores. In the car, my parents would always have the Oldie's station on, and I could sing the words to just about anything that came over the airwaves.
I had a nice collection of VHS tapes with various cartoons that my parents would record for me. One in particular that I remember was a Disney special on TV with music videos starring different characters. Most of the songs were by Weird Al. I remember a music video of "I Want a New Duck" featuring Donald Duck, and "Eat it" with Goofy. But, the one in particular that stood out as my favorite was the video for "Born to Be Wild", which was not a Weird Al cover but the original song.
I then realized that the same song played on the radio, on the station my parents would put on. And around that same time, I learned how to record onto cassette tapes. That's where it all began.
Like a true nature child
We were born
Born to be wild
We have climbed so high
Never want to die

Sleepy Eyes of Death
Music Video for the song Final Heart Bleeds Black by Sleepy Eyes of Death, a new discovery of mine. The tags "epic cinematic electro gaze" is what caught my eye. Their sound brings to mind the classic scores of Blade Runner and Legend.
I like her Jedi outfit. It looks like she woke up on Tatooine.
I'm not sure if it falls within the category of "Chillwave" or not (read: Is Chillwave the Next Big Music Trent - WSJ), and I'm not one to try to categorize everything I listen to. On the contrary I was disappointed to find that these recent musical discoveries of mine are gaining popularity. I do hope it doesn't become another bastardized sub genre.
But, maybe I'm just too much of a jaded old elitist man.
